Auto Insurance Coverage

Auto insurance coverage is packaged into different coverage
types.   Before you purchase any type of auto insurance coverage, be
sure to study your other insurance policies so you don't end up
paying for something you don't need.  The truth is online quotes are
the most accurate and efficient way to get good, affordable auto
insurance coverage no matter where you live.

            Uninsured Motorist Coverage

If the other driver involved in an accident is uninsured, this
coverage pays up to the limit you purchase.  The coverage limits
refer to the maximum amount that will be paid per person, per
incident, respectively.  Uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage
might also be a wise buy, even if you have full medical coverage, as
it can pay for your pain and suffering damages.  The recommended
coverage is one which is affordable and protects an insured's
investment in the value of owned autos, pays medical expenses when
injuries occur, and covers an insured's legal liability as a result
of automobile accidents.  Keep in mind that you may be able to raise
the coverage limits for a small additional premium.

Many states require you to add Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist
Coverage in the event that you are injured by an uninsured driver or
            hit-and-run.

            Medical Payments Coverage

Medical Payments coverage protects the driver and passengers
without regard to fault.  Therefore, if you choose a $2,000 Medical
Expense Limit, each passenger will have up to $2,000 coverage for
medical claims resulting from an accident in your vehicle.

Whether you need optional medical coverage and how much you need
depend on what your health insurance coverage includes.

            Comprehensive and Collision Coverage

Collision coverage provides coverage for an insured's vehicle
that is involved in an accident, subject to a deductible.
Comprehensive auto insurance coverage helps pay for damage to your
vehicle not caused by collision. Comprehensive coverage protects
your car if it is stolen or damaged by something other than
collision, such as fire, vandalism, windstorm, earthquake or
hail.    If you have a newer vehicle or one in excellent condition,
you may need this coverage to replace or repair the vehicle in case
            of loss.

If you have an older car or one in poor
condition, you may not want to pay for this coverage.  For older
cars, consider dropping this coverage, since coverage is normally
limited to the cash value of your car.  Individuals without health
insurance may benefit from this coverage, because if the limits
chosen are inadequate, you will be responsible for paying the
additional amount.  If you don’t have Collision coverage, Uninsured
Motorist Property Damage coverage pays up to a certain amount for
repairs to the insured car (some states have limits at $3500, some
are lower and some are higher).

Collision and comprehensive coverage are required in most lease
contracts, and are essential if you own an expensive car.

Before you purchase any type of auto insurance coverage, be sure to
study your other insurance policies so you don't end up paying for
            something you don't need.
